QualityRights – Bosnia and Herzegovina

Building on the work undertaken as part of the  WHO EURO project on adults with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities living in institutions in the European Region, Bosnia and Herzegovina has accomplished a number of critical milestones in its QualityRights activities including:

  • QualityRights assessments of services and the development of service transformation/improvement plans using the WHO QualityRights materials and tools
  • The development of a model of the hospital discharge for people using services, that provides for continuity of care for people in their own communities
  • The introduction of innovations into new upcoming laws related to mental health and in line with the CRPD, including the use of individual recovery plans and comfort rooms within services
  • The translation of the entire WHO QualityRights e-training platform on mental health, disability human rights and recovery.

On 14 October 2020, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s QualityRights e-training was officially launched at a National Conference on Mental Health, Human Rights and Recovery. The conference was organized by Association XY, and attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Ombudsperson of BiH, Association XY and the Mental Health Project, WHO (country, regional and HQ levels) as well as representatives of the Government of Switzerland who provide financial support for the work in this area.
